Cruising the Barrier Reef

Your cruise will begin at the village of San Pedro on Ambergris Caye. Ambergris, or AC as it is affectionately called, is the largest and most developed island in Belize. But you will still find it charmingly primitive, with sand streets filled primarily with golf carts, and most of the foot traffic occurring up and down the breezy palm-studded beach. There are over 50 hotels in San Pedro, but they are restricted to 3 stories high, so the island retains its informal, small town atmosphere. At Ambergris the barrier reef is only about 4 miles off shore, forming a natural breakwater that provides good protection for boats at anchor.
