We woke up to total silence and a thick mist blanketing the water and land.  So peaceful.  We even saw a small deer swim across the canal right across our bows.

The first lock opening begins at 8:30 so we and all our neighbors were up early getting ready.

The lock raises up 9 feet, and it was completely full this morning.  There is a lot of turbulence which would have made a great photo, but unfortunately I was too busy handling the line to break out the camera.  

Once in the canal there was a long line of boats, but eventually we passed all the sailboats and had a clear view ahead.
