South to Solomons

Submitted by maggie on

We headed out in the grey dawn in anticipation of a long day down to Solomons.   The forecast was for cold driving rain (not our preferred Sunny Skies) but we wanted to take advantage of the NE-to-East wind.   The wind stayed behind the beam most of the morning, making it a chilly but fast ride.  The rain was pretty heavy and blowing into the cockpit for a little while but later came around to the East and gave us a fine ride - sometimes topping 11 knots.

We passed a boat laboring into the teeth of the wind taking waves over the cabin top and did not envy him at all!  It's a great day to be heading south!

So we pulled into Solomons well before 2:00 and had time for laundry and to walk to the Ice Cream shoppe - which sadly was closed for the season.  We are running just a little behind the season but should catch up in no time and be enjoying more friendly weather.
